My drawing and painting life
This is the result of some drawing practice preparing for my drawing class. I can’t help it. I just go back to how I learned how to draw better. And my first step was taking classes from Carla Sonheim. She taught me drawing contours, blind contours and lots of other techniques. Here I started by drawing the contour, then added elements to it.
It took me straight back to the fun we had during the year of the giraffe in 2013. We used all kinds of techniques to draw and paint giraffes. We started making many drawings.
Often it takes a few tries to get a good drawing. This time I started by doing a semi-blind contour. I mostly looked at the photo while drawing. The first version I didn’t put the eye in the right place. So loosen up I drew a few oneliner drawings of the same giraffe. After that it drew the above. By this time I knew the image a lot better.
Here’s the first drawing:
And the quick oneliner drawings:
In one of these drawings it seems that a giraffe is related to a goat (bottom left). The drawings are quite sketchy. I like little bits in each one, though. 🙂
