30 paintings in 30 days again

I’m joining Leslie Saeta in her challenge to make and / or post 30 painting in 30 days this September.  Over the past few months I gathered enough materials do share more than 30 paintings. Especially during the period I worked on the 100 paintings. I’ll start by sharing my tree series. Here’s a collage of how I progressed in the series of tree paintings.

The painting today is part of the 100 small squares series, acrylic paint on gesso-ed watercolor paper, 20x20cm. AVAILABLE

This one is part of the first twenty. I was playing with the possibilities. I had a bit of fun playing with paints in bright colors straight from the tube, adding white (quite gloppy) and adding marks by scratching in the paint (‘sgraffito’).

The series of 100 paintings on 20x20cm format is only a beginning. Now I’m in the flow, as it were, I want to take some of my favorites to a new scale. I am gathering my materials for that and have started painting too – as followers of this blog well know. I’m calling it a new project, “GROW”. I’m hoping to move from 30×30 cm, 40×40 in September to 90x90cm or 100×100 by the end of the Fall.

Also, I have gone on working on the small square paintings on paper from time to time. For starters, it is plain fun! I love working on them. Also, it is a good way to get into the flow for painting on a larger canvas. It feels like I warm up to the paints, the colors and the images I want to create when I do them in the studio.

I may have to miss a day or two, but hope to post paintings here often. And I will put some of them in my Etsy shop. I’m hoping some of you followers are interested to support my effort by buying. If you’d like to do so, be on the lookout for new posts from now on.

Check out Leslie Saetas 30 in 30 blog for all the wonderful art that has already been shared in the first few days! And to find out all the details on the challenge of course, if you’d like to join too. If you want to join the challenge too, go to Leslie Saetas page with all the details.

PS This is blogpost number 300 on this blog! YEAH!
