My drawing and painting life
August 19 and 20 were both a studio day. I wanted to take the experience on making the hundred small paintings on paper to another level. After the small flower and star (my daily work on Friday), I prepped some larger paintings (60×80 cm). But I found I am still not able to paint in large brush strokes due to my shoulder issues. So after a talk to a friend on Saturday, I went on and kept my painting work small. I started and (almost finished) three canvases of size 30×30 cm.
This was day 355 of 366.
On Sunday I was at home and made the little tangle piece shown in the blogpost of August 22. On Monday I had to decide on what to show in a small exhibit. I decided to add some pastels to the paintings shown above. They looked like this by that time:
By the end of the afternoon they were dry and I took two of them – and two from the hundred (paintings on paper) – to hang in a window space in the same neighborhood where my studio is. I can show my work there for a couple of weeks.
I wish I could show you. The sun was blazing hot on the window. It was hard enough to stand there and get the piece to hang straight (and not melt). But I couldn’t take a good picture at the time.
I am definitely going to expand on these. Step by step the paintings will grow in size, as my shoulder gets better. I know they will. 🙂
Tomorrow I will show you today’s work.
Today is August 24 – 7 days of daily work to go – 8 to …. a new year?
