Flowers of sadness

Jul8_flowers of saddness WIP2 44

Photo of painting while still wet. 20 x 20 cm, acrylic paint on watercolor paper.

I love the Ftalocyanine blue and Hookers green together making a dark blue green in this piece. Coupled with some other blues and greens they form a nice background for the ‘flowers’.

The series goes on and on. For a while I was scared that painting these small paintings would soon get boring, but the thing is: there are still surprises in this for me. I still find new imagery. Some days the paints make real gritty finger tips and messy paintings, other days I get these simple images that seem to be so right. Happy with this one, even though it was sparked by a sad feeling.

I do like them best when still wet. The paint still shines. But most of the paint is matte, so the dried version looks a little more dull. I will be working on some of them a little longer – so they stay as shiny as this.

July 8, 55 days to go. #yearofdailycreating

Makes me think of an underwater scene, full of life and movement.
