My drawing and painting life
I would like to share this fun video tutorial by Carla Sonheim in which she shows a fun technique. Some of my followers will probably already have seen it on Carla’s website. Or perhaps on Jill Kuhns blog.
Here it is.
Obviously I loved to try this myself. I used it as a warming up in the studio the other day (May 10) before starting painting in oils.
Here’s one of my results using ink on the negative space (the space outside of the subject, here: the person).
Here’s some more, some full body pics.
(Might even be the doodlewash party that Charlie is throwing all month on his blog, Doodlewash).
And some more, trying to use negative space. That was a bit more difficult. They look a bit awkward, don’t they?
These were obviously not meant to be finished art works, I used some cheap sketching paper, and it buckled on the pieces where I used lots of ink.
If you want to see a fun take on ink people – do check out Jill Kuhns take on this fun project. She combined the project with Charlie’s idea of throwing a doodlewash party – inviting everyone to make watercolor paintings of food in the month of May, share it on their blog ( add the tag #doodlewashparty).
Some of my ink people also look like they are about to go to a party, don’t they? I must have been inspired by Jill to do that. 🙂 The awkard-looking couples just look like they didn’t feel like partying much. Ah well, we all have days like that, don’t we?
