News: Two Fairy Tales Classes!

Watercolor, pan pastel and collage on paper

There’s seriously interesting news. I am thinking about what comes next. I am hoping to illustrate a book – a book that me and my hubby hope to write. What good news that there are two really interesting courses this summer.

One: There’s a repeat run of Year of the Fairy tale – by Carla Sonheim. I loved that class, but couldn’t fully take advantage of all lessons. Besides we’re all two years down the line, how has this changed me – my skills and my work with the fairy tales.

Two: To make it even more fun, Tamara Laporte has also announced to teach a class on fairy tales – a collaborative class with at least 8 other teachers – and working on your personal style.

Well, that’s great, because:

1. Some of my favorite teachers are on the line up; and the combination of different approaches of these teachers promises to be a lot of fun and a lot of mixed media techniques to learn;

To name a few: Carla Sonheim is also in this one (yeah),  as is Jane Davenport and Effy Wild.

WOW. I just read that Effy will be interpreting the Ugly Duckling – yeah, birds! What I am also very interested in: she will be adding some deeper layers of understanding to the tale, using Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ interpretation of this fairy tale in her lesson. Now I really want to be in this class.

2. More tales, different tales than the course above to be delving into.

3. Finally the price has been announced – a bargain – and registration opens tomorrow!

Even though it’s a bargain… I am on a bit of a budget, as far as courses are concerned. I do hope to win a spot on this course on one of the give-aways (see below).

If I don’t win … I can always revert to selling some of my old books, like I’ve even been doing lately (and giving away / throwing away some) to make room – and pay – for this painting habit of mine. I will be selling more. But not the fairy tale books of course.

  • “Ever after 2016”: Find the class description on Tamara’s website.
  • You will find the line-up of teachers on Tamara’s website and a list of the blog hop . All teachers participate in a blog-hop and give-away. Each of the teachers give-away blogposts also includes a list of participants to the blog hop as well.
  • You can find the give-away post  of Effy Wild here.

PS The image above is a piece I did during the first run of Fairy tale, a scene from The Frog Princess. Still love it!

    Adorable frog! I was thinking of that class, but I already have a few classes going that I am behind in, as well, LOL! Excited about the possibilities of your book one day! So cool!

      Thank you, Rose. Yes, I know about that, being in more classes and being behind. Fortunately I’ve done part of the work for Carla Sonheim class once before, and can pick what I want to delve deeper into. 🙂 And… there’s another book idea brewing too. I’ll probably start mixing up classes and assignments.
