My drawing and painting life
The first 14 days of November I meant to do mostly sketchbook work first, and other kinds of art work later in the month. I was inspired by some of the earlier sketchbook work some of the time. But other ideas came up, or I let myself be taken by other initiatives to inspire more mixed media art. All in all, there was a lot of play during these two weeks.
To take an example, some days I drew and painted landscapes, inspired by Cat Bennetts Sketchbook class. On day 62 I drew outside in a tiny sketchbook, but there were only a few drawings and they were only very vague (it started to rain). They inspired larger charcoal drawings later. (No pics ready) This in turn led to some landscapes like so:
Some November days were about faces. These were inspired by earlier work in the sketchbook class.
Then I read about #nanojoumo, or the idea to make journal pages each day in November. I looked into that. I joined Iris Fritschi-Cussens version of the #NaNoJouMo (art journaling challenge) , doing a page in 15 minutes. So some faces were done more quickly, like the left one below. Also I started a face by fingerpainting. (I quickly found this was not my challenge really – partly because I also have to homework for a real life class, and there’s not enough time in day to do it all. So I only took part for a few days, on days when it felt right.)
There was more finger painting on day 68:
Day 69 / November 8: more sketchbook play. This was in the spirit of #nanojoumo (the 15 minutes variety), taking 15minutes to finish a journal page. This one is pen and watercolor only:
There was a lot more. In fact I decided to leave out some of the best…. 🙂
I will share in the days to come.
