My drawing and painting life
Here’s a peony painted on day 42 (Oct 12). Peonies are so beautiful. I don’t have them in my garden (yet), but hope to next year. For reference I had to find a photo online.
The source for the reference photo is a website called: “Arrowhead Alpines, rare plants for obsessive gardeners”. Thanks to this gardening center for the awesome photo.
The website mentions about the peonia ostii: : “A spectacular tree peony which just loads itself down with large, fragrant, pure white, slightly ruffled flowers. One of the most stunning things you’ll ever see, and just gets better with age as the plants mature.”
I owe a lot to Fred Lisaius’ online classes about watercolor painting for this kind of painting. He showed us in his lessons the way to mix different kinds of greys, which I have been practicing over the past two weeks.
