Day 33 Sunflower in black and white

On day 33 we went to meet friends in Amsterdam and enjoyed visiting the van Gogh museum. What an amazing collection of art! It’s so great to see so many pieces together in one exhibit, to see the development, to be able study drawings and paintings. I was particularly happy to be able to see his use of color (and color combinations) and brush stroke.

Getting there on time was key. So this time I had to keep it brief and simple. On the train into Amsterdam I drew this small piece. From memory.

Wow! Sounds like a wonderful experience to see his work in person! Funny, I just bought a calendar on sunflowers at the store today. I just love this happy flower. I like your lovely sketch! 🙂

Thanks Jill. Yes it was really great.
Good job buying such a calender. To remind you of summer during the colder months.

Beautiful drawing! I’m impressed by people who can draw from memory.
