My drawing and painting life
Today, a rainy and windy day in my country, cold for the time of year. A slow start and then as it’s a Sunday, I can take some time to paint. A layered painting like this has to dry from time to time. So I do chores, come back to it. In fact I started two faces on prepared substrates, painted about a week ago. Finishing that other one may appeal to me tomorrow, or not. We’ll see.
This one is inspired by lessons by Alena Hennessy about painting goddesses. This painting is about the goddess Ceres, of growth and crops. As I hope to grow in my art practice this year, this seemed a wonderful choice of subject.
Edit September 25:
By early October I will be selling much of the results from my month of Face drawing and painting. No use stashing them all in my cupboard.
As this painting is representing the wish for growing in my art practice, it’s special to me. I will hold on to it for a little longer. But then again, it may end up in my Etsy shop after a while, after all.
