Drawing and painting to music

WITW birds_300115

In April I started painting to music. The above paint sketch is part of a series, all done listening to different versions of the same song called Wild is the Wind. So I call them WITW birds , short for ‘Wild is the wind birds’. πŸ™‚

One day I was listening to the song Wild is the Wind as performed by David Bowie, Youtube suggested to also take a look (haha, listen to) Nina Simone. I know her work, but that day I found out so many wonderful songs. Wow. I was hooked.
I come back to Wild is the Wind every time. I don’t know which one I like best, the version by David Bowie or Nina Simone, it’s a close call. It depends on my mood.

I haven’t shown this painting or blogpost earlier, even though I started writing it in April. There is something about this painting that makes me want to keep it private. Maybe it’s the emotion that comes with the song. Or the fact that it seems so unfinished and simple. But is that really a problem?

I love my little bird and the leaf clinging to the tree. I was clinging to the painting. But OK, I am letting it go. πŸ™‚

I’m not familiar with that song, Corrine – I will have to check it out. Glad you feel ready to share your painting. So delightful! 😊

Yes Jill, you do that, it’s a very soulful song. Thanks for your empathy and our ongoing connection.

Wonderfully alive strokes of the brush – and a very endearing bird and tree – I think its important to give yourself permission not to show things sometimes – at least until their newness has worn off – its why there are huge gaps in what I post on the Spark group!

Thanks so much for stopping by Caroline. I am glad I am not the only one who sometimes wants to hold on to the art for a while before sharing. πŸ™‚
