My drawing and painting life

Drawing faces

I have to do my work in fundraising too, so once in a while I just make a quick sketch – during lunch break or before work. Not hard when the reference photo is on top of a magazine that’s already on the table (like yesterday), when the pencil of graphite stick is sitting there as well. Ha! I just make sure the materials are there.

Tonight in my real life class we are going to paint a portrait, I am sure. But just had to take that real life class  on oil painting. I know I am already on too many courses. It’s not so much that I desperately wanted to learn oil painting. It’s that I wanted a life class, I like my teacher, I like being in the studio with her and the others.

Now that we are going to make a portrait, perhaps more than one, I want to do some practice drawing faces. It’s all about practice isn’t it? Considering that many drawing classes I take work on female faces, I just have to draw males as well.

Good for you to take a portrait class! I believe it is about practice and trying new things. Plus it helps when you like the teacher! Your drawing is very good here!

      Thanks Jill for your compliment.
And yes, practice makes perfect – or near perfect… haha. From Carla’s Faces 101 to several Life Book 2014 lessons, I’ve had lots of practice by now, but one can always learn more. That’s what I am hoping for and working on. Moving from one subject and medium to another helps too, I have found.
The course is not all portrait – but it could be if I want it. So might just do it that way. 🙂
