My drawing and painting life
Recently I entered the “2014: Summer Online Art Camp” (hosted by Carla Sonheim) for some inspiration. And mostly for the fun of it. I had made remarks online that I wouldn’t enter, having not enough time (being on holiday). Considering there was such a lovely line up of teachers, and knowing I can finish any time over the months to come, I couldn’t resist entering after all.
When I came back home, it was already the end of the second week. This meant having to make a choice out of all the fun stuff. Firstly, we still needed to clean up our holiday camping stuff. So the first time I could really start was during the third week of the camp. Secondly, I couldn’t just do it all. I decided to pick something from the classes of the first two weeks and just start there. There was so much inspiration, many possibilities for lovely art…. but I would have to leave most of it for later.
I picked the three day class by Lynn Whipple, Surface Design and Paint . The idea was to do the three lessons, spread over more days, working on one canvas, putting on more layers, using different techniques. As all video’s were already available, I could pack the work in a Sunday afternoon and a whole day of painting the next day.
The idea is to start in a rather intuitive fashion. The excitement of just smacking paint on the the canvas not being bothered about the end result straight away was freeing! The spraying of water on it, letting it drip : exciting!. It was also exciting not to know what would happen, how different drippings affect other layers. It was also rather tiring, I found afterwards.
Here are some of the in progress shots together in a collage.
As far as the Art challenge is concerned I will call them #24 to #27 .
